SharePoint 2010 reaches RTM

16 April Microsoft reached an exciting engineering milestone: the release-to-manufacturing (RTM) for Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010!

The Volume License customers with active Software Assurance (SA) on these products will be one of the first to receive the 2010 set of products. They will be able to download the product in English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, and Dutch via the Volume Licensing Service Center starting April 27.

It is said that MSDN and Technet subscribers can download the version on April 22.

Can’t wait to get my hands on the release.

Dutch SharePoint Usergroup

A former colleague and I have started a new SharePoint user group. We would like to make this user group a great success and we have already planned a meeting in may.

DutchSUG

The Dutch SharePoint User Group is an independent social network for people to collaborate and share information around SharePoint Technology and products. By learning from others you can improve your skills and expertise, around areas, which are then again a benefit to the social network. This platform is a community platform for SharePoint developers, it pro’s, end users and power users who want to share information, tricks, code and content. It’s also a good starting point for people without SharePoint knowledge who are interested in SharePoint Technology.

This social network depends on the information shared by members and will grow eventually into a large network of people and information. You can help us become this large network by becoming a member and contribute. When you become a member you can contribute to this social network and connect to others. By connecting to others you can expand you SharePoint network. An account will be created for you, enabling you to participate in for example discussions, blogs, articles and content. People from all countries are welcome to participate.

So have a look around and become a member. Help us and yourself to grow!

(PDF) SharePoint Icon Integration

A few months ago I have created a solution to automatically add a icon (PDF) to your SharePoint farm. I never had the change to test it on a multiple server farm.

Last week I had the change to test it and altered it in several ways.

The blog posts I made of the old solution can be found here:

Feature for adding a Icon to your SharePoint farm

I have placed the new solution on CodePlex:

Description (SharePoint Icon Integration)

SharePoint Icon Integration makes it easier for SharePoint Administrators / Developers to add a icon (PDF) to the SharePoint farm.
You will no longer have to alter the DocIcon.xml file manually. The solution is developed in C# and works in a multiple farm environment.

SharePoint Memory Leak

A few day’s ago I stumbled on a article about SharePoint Memory leaks because we were looking at memory leaks for 1 of out clients. I found a great article from Todd Carter about a giant memory leak within SharePoint that he found just a month ago.

It is really a must read:
